Letter to the Editor: Support for abortion rights
Regarding the Jan. 23 MNJ article, ''Mansfield March for Life marks 'obituary' of Roe vs Wade,'' I strongly disagree with the anti-abortion rights protest. Abortion is still very much alive and legal in many states, including Ohio, and rightly so. While conservative and religious right anti-abortion rights extremists consistently focus on the fetus and ignore the civil rights of pregnant people from women to transgender men, many Americans like myself openly support personal autonomy and abortion rights.
I would also like to be clear that I am someone who had an abortion in 1994 and does not regret it, and I have openly shared my story about it and would choose to do so again. Also, there is a lot of support for those who want to be unpregnant, from Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio to Pro-Choice Ohio. These two groups provide the best fact-based and up-to-date reproductive information from abortion care, to birth control and sterilization options, and are fully LGBTQ+ supportive and inclusive.
Please continue to stand up and speak out for bodily autonomy and access to abortion care as choosing abortion is your legal right and no one has the right to deny you this essential health care service.
