Letter to the editor: Support LGBTQ+ center and reproductive rights

Regarding the Repository's article, ''Queer in Canton opens LGBTQ+ resource center,'' I am very excited for this inclusive LGBTQ+ resource center for the city of Canton being located inside the current Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio's Canton location.

Having these two civil rights organizations collaborate and work together makes sense as both organizations are about health care and supporting LGBTQ+ people. I hope that those who have questions, or need more information on how to best support themselves or their loved one, will donate their time, funds or LGBTQ+ supportive clothing, books or DVDs, which are needed to keep the center going.

Everyone deserves to have access to the full range of health care options, whether it is gender-affirming care, or reproductive health care choices. Having access to health care choices is why I want to express my support for the local Planned Parenthood, and want to ask all Ohio voters who helped defeat the anti-choice Issue 1, to please vote yes on Nov. 7 to protect ''The Right to Reproductive Freedom with Protections for Health and Safety'' amendment.

It is so important to have safe, accessible, and reliable reproductive rights be enshrined into the state constitution. I want every person to note the first line from this proposed amendment which says, ''every individual has a right to make and carry out one's own reproductive decisions, including but not limited to decisions on: contraception, fertility treatment, continuing one's own pregnancy, miscarriage care, and abortion.''

Supporting your right to live your life as you see fit, and to make your own health care decisions, is what Queer in Canton and Planned Parenthood are all about, and why these amazing organizations deserve community support with volunteer time, funds, and your vote.
