Letter to the Editor: Thanking Four Price for his service in Texas House

On the Texas House of Representatives website, the differences between the Texas Senate and the Texas House are explained. Senators serve a four-year term and represent a relatively large number of constituents whereas, the House members serve two year terms and represent a smaller number of constituents. House members are therefore able to remain more closely in tune to the needs and concerns of their constituents.

I am writing today to thank Four Price for his many years of service as the District 87 Representative. His District includes Potter, Carson, Hutchinson, Moore, and Sherman counties. I have been a Panhandle resident for over 60 years. My family has been involved with farming, ranching, insurance, beef packing, pharmacy and education all in the Texas Panhandle. I say that because I am a panhandle person. I believe in small communities, small public school districts, small businesses, farmers and ranchers that call the Texas Panhandle their home. Four Price has been my representative for many years and has served the people in his district admirable. Anytime I have written to called or texted him he has always responded quickly and usually in person. Recently, I called his office for help on an issue for my organization and he personally went to the office of that organization to try and workout our issue. Personally folks - Who in the Texas legislature does that today?

During this year, I have often wondered how he handled the constant pressure from the Governor and Lt. Governor on issues that he knew would not be good for our small communities. In fact, I texted him and asked how he was holding up and in perfect Four fashion he told me that we the folks in his district were worth whatever he had to put up with.

Four Price has left big shoes to fill. I hope the next person takes care of the folks in our district as he has over the years. Not only has he represented us well but done it with grace, honesty, and common sense even when it seems that those traits are no longer in fashion. Thank you Four and know that you are well respected in District 87.
