The families of Afghanistan — who never asked for decades of war — need our help. You likely know at least some of the tragic recent history of this extremely poor war-torn country. But, you might not know a two-year drought took 40% of this year’s harvest. You might not know over half the population — almost 23 million people — is threatened with severe malnutrition and starvation right now.

The World Food Program USA is part of the United Nations WFP and has had a successful presence in Afghanistan for 60 years delivering food to hungry people in remote villages desperately in need of help. The need has never been as great and no other country in the world is currently as threatened with starvation as Afghanistan right now. WFPUSA has an excellent 4 out of 4 star rating with Charity Navigator.

Any caring person who can afford to make an ongoing monthly donation to WFPUSA should consider doing so. If just 1,000 folks in Monroe County can contribute $25 per month ongoing, over the next year we will have collectively donated $300,000 and we will have saved lives. Look for WFPUSA online. Your heart will thank you.
