Letter: Holiday Bureau says thank you

To the Editor:

The Holiday Bureau would like to thank the following businesses and individuals for their generosity this year.

The following businesses provided food for our volunteers during our Christmas toy give out. Outback, Buddy's BBQ, Papa John's, Dunkin Donuts, Arby’s, Pizza Hut, Bojangles, McDonald’s on the Turnpike, Chicken Salad Chick, Jimmy John’s, and Calhoun’s on Kingston Pike, Knoxville.

The following businesses and organizations collected or purchased toys for us this year. National Fitness members and staff, Cash Express, Alignment Chiropractic, SARG, Youth Advisory Board of Oak Ridge, and The Episcopal School of Knoxville, 1st Grade Class, for a large U-Haul truck of toys they collected.

Many individuals also donated new and used toys and non-perishable food to us this year, for which we are very thankful.

Steve and Carson Payne rebuilt a deck on our storage truck with material donated by Home Depot.

We would also like to thank Anita Alcorn for dressing 100 Barbie Dolls, the Girl Scouts working with Barbies, to be given to our children this year, and Kara and Shirley of Knoxville for new toys for older children.

Exceptional Volunteers: ORAU employees, High School Key Club, the City of Oak Ridge Recreation Department employees, Home Depot employees, Clinton Fire Dept., and the County Mayor’s employees. We would also like to thank the Anderson County Sheriff’s Department.

Monetary donations were given by Food City Corp., Atkins (Isotek) Corp., First United Methodist Church of Kingston, Kiwanis Club of Oak Ridge, Anderson County Chapter of Knoxville Area Realtors, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Fidelity Charitable, Oak Ridge Area Doll Club, Schwab Charitable, Lions Club, Give Lively Foundation, and Transonic Karns.
