LETTER: The Jan. 6 insurrection had nothing in common with 2017

Setting aside the disingenuous remark neglecting the officers who did die from injuries suffered on Jan 6., 2021, you ignore one big difference. Shall I say one huge difference?

One was an insurrection. One had its groundwork laid out prior to Jan. 6, 2021, with statements meant to sow doubts about election fairness. One had planning for armed militia to attend and they did.

One had pressure applied on the turnover of the presidency process with threats to the vice president from the president and even the submission of fraudulent electors from seven states organized by the White House. One had threats to the election officials in states such as Georgia.

In short, 2017 and Jan. 6, 2021, had nothing in common.
