LETTER: Jaw-dropping letter on Second Amendment

The retired Army officer who wrote the letter about "desperate measures" unwittingly showed why the Second Amendment is precious and necessary to our republic. In one paragraph he mentions hanging suspects without a trial and in the next he talks about forcible gun confiscation based on the common good. Good heavens, Josef Stalin is in hell smiling at the thought. I thought Army officers were taught history. Apparently not.

The Second Amendment was written to protect us from the authoritarian tendencies this gentleman just demonstrated. Guns save way more lives every year than they take by the CDC's own statistics. There are simple fixes to mass shootings but violating our rights and leaving us serfs subject to the despotic dreams of a tyrant, is not one of them.
