Letter: Legislators need to step up and reel in Big Tech

I’ve spent my career using technology to connect with customers and get key information out to the people who need it most.

I’m also a staunch supporter of capitalism and believe that we need to do everything in our power to preserve our capitalistic system here in America.

There are few places where the basic tenets of capitalism are out-of-whack more than in the area of Big Tech.

In addition to many issues that people are aware of the heavy-handedness from our Big Tech overlords, there is an issue of exploitation that some may not know about.

Big Tech is exploiting small to mid-sized app developers basically pricing them out of the market with 30% commission fees and preferences that go to their own backed apps that makes it difficult to break through.

Luckily, our congressional delegation has a chance to start to have Big Tech work for consumers again with the Open App Markets Act.

I want to encourage Sens. (Rob) Portman and (Sherrod) Brown, my current and future Congressmen (Bob) Gibbs and (Jim) Jordan, and the rest of our delegation to support the Open App Markets Act.
