LETTER: Milford’s Stockings for Seniors enjoys successful 10th holiday season

To the editor:

Ten years ago, the team at Cornerstone at Milford Assisted Living came up with a wonderful way to give back to the community during the holidays. We created "Stockings for Seniors," a program that allows local businesses and organizations to embrace the spirit of generosity through creating holiday gifts for Milford area seniors. This tradition truly would not be possible without the efforts of so many in our community, who inspired us with their positivity and collaboration.

With the help of local businesses, organizations and elder care professionals, this year we were able to donate more than 250 beautifully decorated stockings filled with useful items like socks, mittens and personal hygiene products to band aids, stationary, batteries and playing cards to the Milford Senior Center, which helped to distribute the stockings to local seniors in Milford, Bellingham, Franklin and Medway.

We would like to say a special thank you to the following individuals, local businesses and organizations who donated time, funds and/or materials: The Aging Space, The Enclave of Franklin, Milford Senior Center, Tri-Valley, Inc., Bellingham Senior Center, Medway Country Manor, Countryside Healthcare of Milford, Benchmark at Forge Hill, Franklin Senior Center

We are so fortunate that this list of supporters has grown beyond just Milford over the years, and we are grateful to be part of a community that comes together to lift each other up. Stockings for Seniors brings together families and friends, partners and vendors, co-workers and neighbors, to bring joy to those in need. We look forward to continuing the tradition next year and want to wish all of you a very happy holiday season.
