As a lover of animals, the frontpage article in Palm Beach Daily News on Dec. 10 about PETA protesting the president and CEO of American Humane’s book signing exasperated me.

By all reports, the cookbook being protested, “The Humane Table: Cooking with Compassion,” is Dr. Robin Ganzert’s way of helping people who consume animal protein make informed decisions while making a delicious and healthy meal for their family.

PETA’s hurled abuses and slanderous claims about Dr. Ganzert’s character are grossly unjust and deserving of our condemnation. I hope everyone will learn more about what American Humane, the country’s first national humane organization — with offices right here in Palm Beach — and Dr. Robin Ganzert stand for and not be fooled by PETA’s false rhetoric and unfounded assertions.

Dr. Ganzert is to be commended for all she does to protect animal lives and for helping us to know more about the choices we make at the grocery store.
