I am writing in support of Matt Cartwright, Democratic candidate for the 8th Congressional District. As a former teacher and school administrator, I firmly believe that we need Matt in Congress to continue his advocacy for public education.

In order to achieve their maximum potential as members of society, young children must have a firm foundation as they begin their schooling, and as young adults they need opportunities to prepare for the world of work once they complete secondary school. Matt Cartwright understands this and continues to support robust federal funding to create high-quality, safe learning environments in northeastern Pennsylvania.

Throughout his time in Congress, Matt has worked to bring millions in federal money back to northeastern Pennsylvania for early childhood education programs, including Head Start, which is crucial for children in low income families. He is also an advocate for much stronger federal support for grants that help make colleges, universities, and trade schools more affordable. Congressman Cartwright understands that public education is key to a robust economy; he supports infrastructure initiatives to improve school safety and believes that teachers’ salaries should reflect their professional preparation and dedication.

Matt Cartwright is the person we need representing us in Congress. As an educator, a parent, and a resident of northeastern Pennsylvania, I urge you to join me in voting for Matt in the upcoming election.
