Letter: Trump is the biggest liar since the Nazi's Joseph Goebbels

Joseph Goebbels, the Nazi propaganda minister, said, "Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it and eventually they will believe it."

In the lead-up to the 2020 presidential election, Donald Trump told the most dangerous lie ever told by a politician running for office in the United States. Trump took a page right out of the Nazi playbook and told his followers that if he lost the presidential election, that the election was rigged. Trump lost that election and immediately started telling his followers that the election was stolen from him. He claimed that ballots had been destroyed. That poll workers had changed and miscounted ballots. That various election officials had schemed to make him lose. That voting machine companies had rigged the vote count. All of his ranting is nothing more than a pack of horrible lies resulting in poll workers' and election officials' lives being threatened and in some cases ruined. Numerous lawsuits have debunked the Big Lie.

On January 6, 2021 Trump called his followers to the nation's Capitol and instructed them to go to the Capitol and "fight like hell." The Trump mob descended on the United States Capitol and broke in while Congress was in the midst of certifying Joe Biden as president. In the ensuing melee, the mob assaulted 134 Capitol police officers and murdered one officer. The Trump coup to overturn the 2020 election failed, but it hasn't stopped him from repeating the big lie. He never apologized to the officers who were assaulted. He never apologized to the slain officer's family. On the contrary, Trump called the mob "patriots" and claimed that the convicted rioters were being held hostage.

Trump is running for president again. His purpose is twofold: (1) To destroy democracy in this nation while appointing himself dictator and, (2) To pardon himself if convicted of the numerous crimes for which he has been indicted.

Donald Trump is hands down the most dangerous threat to this nation since the Civil War. Electing him president would be a disaster from which this country would never recover.
