We must be mindful of the similarities between the current Trump-led Republican Party and that of the German Nazi Party led by Adolph Hitler.

Many blame Hitler and the Nazis for the 1933 Reichstag fire and Trump for the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on our Congress and Capitol.

Hitler played upon internal German differences. He, like Trump, used these differences to divide and conquer.

To rally and incite his followers, Hitler ranted about WWI reparations forced upon Germany and inflamed hatred of "the Jews." Trump continues to lie about "a stolen election."

Under other presidents, our disagreements and differences often have been fused to make us great. Trump, however, further divides our nation to favor his ego. I believe he has a narcissistic personality disorder.

Abraham Lincoln said on Jan. 27, 1838, "At what point then is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us, it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all trials and time, or die by suicide."

Trump is leading us toward suicide.
