Biden puts our way of life at risk

Aristotle, Plato and Socrates could not have imagined their Greece would erode away. The Roman citizens enjoying the spectacles in the Coliseum could not have believed that barbarians could destroy the Roman Empire.

Egypt of the pharaohs evaporated. The Ottoman Empire is gone. So too the civilizations of the Incas and Aztecs. U.S. citizens who don’t realize that our nation, even western culture, could cease to exist can’t see beyond the end of their noses.

In four years, not four centuries, the United States has decayed from being the most powerful nation in the history of civilization to a global laughingstock held in contempt by all our enemies. It is happening. Our enemies, instead of attacking us militarily, are actively attacking our reputation, and they are winning in a shut-out.

For instance, consider Xi’s timing in his threats against Taiwan, whom we have sworn to defend. He’s now massing troops on the coast opposite Taiwan and his air and naval infringements on Taiwan airspace and waters are increasing.

Remember Putin’s run-up to Ukraine? Ask why Xi is sending such obvious signals. Might not calling the world’s attention to his muscle-flexing be step one in his actual play, to strip the US of its last shreds of global respect? Completely destroying the last of the US’s credibility is a greater victory than exerting dominance over a small island.

When Xi invades, Joe Biden won’t raise a fist. After that, in world opinion, we may as well not have a military.

Ticket slow left lane drivers

I fully support our law enforcement officers in Florida and in all states. They have a thankless, difficult and dangerous job. With that said, I am asking our police to enforce the law pertaining to “left lane drivers”.

I submit that left lane drivers are a leading cause of accidents and violence on our highways. Florida law states that “drivers cannot continue to be in the leftmost lane if they know or reasonably should know that they are being overtaken from behind by a faster vehicle”. This law is constantly and brazenly broken without fear of law enforcement.

Even though this is a precursor to many accidents, this violation is rarely ticketed. In 2022, the FHP issued only 207 citations for the whole state! The fine is only $158. It should be $1,000. In fairness to police, I realize drivers move over for them, just not us! Many Floridians feel they are held hostage by drivers unaware of the law, unaware of their surroundings or those with an entitled mentality.

‘Left-laners’ cause bottlenecks, aggression, and traffic mishaps which produces more headaches for our police.

Writers shouldn’t sway from code

Edwin Howard’s column in the Sept. 10, 2023 paper has a distinctly pro-Trump flavor. Yet the closing words of the column share information that completely destroys the entire column. These words describe Mr. Howard as “an attorney and a 28-year veteran of the U.S. Navy.”

It is my personal belief that at some point in that 28-year period Mr. Howard had to swear to adhere to a military honor code along the lines of “I will not lie, cheat or steal and I will not tolerate those who do” (as I had to do when I served). This stricture is not in our Constitution, but it is clear that Trump has committed each of these “crime(s) or other offense(s)”.

I believe that trial juries in each of the jurisdictions will unanimously prove Mr. Trump guilty in the coming months. And the fact that Mr. Trump cannot keep his yap shut will furthermore taint the juries against him, but the clear facts will remain.

I therefore call on Mr. Howard to publicly reaffirm his adherence to this honor code and to swear to support another presidential candidate when any of the jurisdictions prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Trump has lied, cheated or stolen in any of the criminal cases lodged against him.

Trump disrupted Washington elite

My dear Carton J. Charles, using words written by others to attack what I write, only puts on full display your lack of integrity. I never said I supported Trump. That’s a misinterpretation on your part.

It is you that drank the Kool-Aid and believes in nonsense. It is you who cannot engage in rational discourse of any kind, and you who misinterprets things I write. All the things you accuse me of.

Neither you, I, nor anyone else needs to support Trump in order to see the travesty of justice that is taking place in front of us every day on the news with what is happening to him. Trump is nothing more than an outsider with no political ties that disrupted the political elite’s congressional country club we have in Washington DC, so they (mostly Democrats) had to try their best to destroy him.

I have plenty of popcorn on hand and am ready to continue watching the ongoing clown show as it unfolds. It will be interesting to see who eventually comes out on top. Oh, and please continue to write your op-eds. They are an immense source of amusement for me on Sunday mornings.

Obama and Biden failed us

We can clearly see the fruits of the Obama and Biden eras. Smelly San Francisco and Los Angeles (the cesspools of the U.S.) are boiling with infectious disease, filth, and sewage.

Portland, Seattle, Chicago, and New York also have Obama’s and Biden’s fingerprints all over them, with their Democratic policies, all part of Obama’s “change.” Remember: light on crime, anti-police, racial divide, open borders, and sanctuary cities!

Their leadership and their democratic policies created a pattern of failure in each of these cities. Biden wants us to think that all this crime is the new normal! Democrats are now the “pro-looting” party, to the point a lot of major companies and jobs are leaving these cities!

People need to open up their eyes as other cities are falling into that same pattern: Minneapolis, Washington DC, Baltimore, Atlanta, Philadelphia and Oakland. Homelessness, drugs, theft, murder, and high crime - but no punishment!

All these cities have Obama and Biden’s DNA all over them. We surely don’t need any more of Obama’s change or Biden’s lies! Liberal media and big tech won’t cover the real Biden. They cover up for him and try to brainwash the American people with more of his lies!

Apartment complex debris unlikely

I am wondering why the apartment complex along Fairfield between Jackson Street and Lillian Highway is allowed to throw out debris along the road? There is furniture, clothing and who knows what else is strewn along the road. It is unsightly and presents the city of Pensacola in a bad way. Can’t the owner of the apartment complex be held accountable? Maybe provide dumpsters on the property for renters to through their stuff in?
