Letters: 'Democrat extremists' to blame for gas prices. Ditch gas guzzlers for freedom

Grandmother's phone ringing off hook

When will the Do Not Call List actually be enforced by the government?

Both landline and cell phone numbers for my grandmother have been on the national Do Not Call registry since January 28, 2021.

She continues to receive up to 20 phone calls a day between the two phone numbers trying to get her Medicare changed. These agents don’t fully explain that they are attempting to change her Medicare.

With the growing Medicare population due to baby boomers becoming eligible for Medicare, and with the 5.8 million people in the US having dementia or Alzheimer’s Disease, this issue cannot be isolated to my grandmother.

They have changed her Medicare provider seven times in the last two years resulting in me having to spend numerous hours correcting the situation.

I have also answered both her landline and cell phone asking for the full name of the company and an address to write into to put her on the company’s individual do not call list and every time the companies refuse to provide the information.

What good is the National Do Not Call Registry if companies do not abide by it?

How can we protect this vulnerable-aged population being switched from their vital medical providers, who best fit them, because these companies are violating the Do Not Call list?

Democrats have messed up everything

The White House along with the Democratic party seem to have become totally dysfunctional.

High gas prices, which have doubled since President Joe Biden and the Democrats have come into power; the border crisis, with migrants crossing at record numbers from reportedly over 160 countries; the highest inflation rate since 1981; and numerous shootings supported by Democrat attempts to defund police departments.

More: April saw record encounters at the southern border, but some data points dipped. Here’s what that means.

The Biden Administration and the Democrats have blamed everyone and everything for the above problems except themselves and their own economic and domestic policies.  No wonder the President's polling is at 36%.

The Democrats have become the party of no common sense.

Looking forward to the upcoming November election to remove these Democrat extremists and make America great again.

Ditch gas guzzlers for freedom

We’re all feeling the pain of soaring gas prices.

We’ve seen it before. According to the National Resources Defense Council (NRCD), adjusted for inflation, prices were similarly high in 2006, 2008 and briefly after 2011.

This spike has much to do with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which is largely funded by fossil fuels.

The council notes that oil and gas funds over a third of Russia’s budget.

Americans could help reduce the power of petro-state tyrants by ditching gas-powered vehicles. This would strengthen national and household energy security AND reduce funding for authoritarian leaders.

Until recently, we had few options. But now, in record numbers, people are abandoning the pump and going electric.

They’re eager for a cleaner, cheaper, more stable alternative to the highly volatile oil market and wildly fluctuating gas prices.

The National Resources Defense Council has found that charging at home cost about as much as fueling up with dollar-a-gallon gasoline. And since the average price of residential electricity, adjusted for inflation, has stayed close to the dollar-a-gallon equivalent mark for over 26 years, going electric makes long-term economic sense for every household.

So, when you purchase a vehicle, why not help defend freedom and your future financial well-being?

The latest TV political commercial declares in dark and ominous tones, concerning our Senatorial candidate: "J.D. Vance: One of the most extreme anti-abortion voices in America."

I say, great. That ensures him my vote no matter what.
