Brown dedicated to auditor's office

I am honored to support Carri Brown for Fairfield County Auditor, and endorse her highly!

Recently, Carri and I worked closely together to assist the Fairfield County Fair in emerging from the COVID restrictions by effectively managing grant funds. Carri is strategic, creative, and thorough. I have witnessed Carri’s deep understanding of county government many times; perhaps most importantly, by using her leadership talents to advance our community and its residents. I can think of no person more dedicated, talented, and skilled to lead the Fairfield County Auditor’s Office.

Join me on November 8 and vote for Carri Brown as Fairfield County Auditor.

Let the buyer beware. Caveat emptor.

Your government is now for sale, from Oct. 12 to Nov. 8. The only real question is whether or not it goes to the highest bidder. That the candidate/ issue with the most money turns into the most votes is a common result. Alternately, that support and a vote follows an attempt to honestly evaluate the policies, positions, and likely results of that vote is a theoretical concept.

The number one rule for such a seeker is don’t believe what you see on TV. Political ads lie, misdirect, mislead, misinform. What you see, hear, or read should be subject to a lot of skepticism and research.

There is no current, effective legal requirement for Truth in political advertising; and few ethical concerns. Lying and its many permutations have become perfectly acceptable. There are no enforcement mechanisms for even those laws that are on the books. The Federal Election Commission (FEC) has been gridlocked for years by the Grand Obstruction Party. And other than bad PR, any recourse or fact checking is often after it’s too late.

There is also little way of knowing who is largely funding many those campaigns, or what their interests might be, or how much money is involved. With extreme decisions from the Supreme Court, it’s all part of a mostly secret system of PAC’s, “charitable” organizations, political contributions, and almost outright bribery.

At one time or another, both parties have made statements about the importance of transparency, accountability, responsibility. But nothing changes. The dollars keep flowing.

A remaining choice is sticking with historical and still relevant principles, going for the party of management, corporations, and the wealthy, or the party more in line with labor, benefits for people, and the working class. It is one party only that most demonstrably rejects truth, justice, fairness, honesty, equity, respect, democracy, inclusion, empathy, education, science, reason, reality, decency, humanity…

A majority of Republican nominees for the House, Senate, and key statewide offices — 299 — have denied the 2020 election results.

Brown has proven track record

As a local government leader, I know first-hand what it takes to be a strong contributor as an elected official. Dr. Carri Brown has a proven track record, and I highly support her in continuing as County Auditor. She is highly competent on technical matters, and she has earned national recognition for achievement in public service. I stay in touch with employees of Fairfield County, and they are highly supportive of Dr. Brown because she works tirelessly to create a culture of respect and innovation. She began her public service as a Deputy Auditor, and it is encouraging to see the successful path she has taken to her service as County Auditor.

Carri has a heart for service and is skilled at strategic planning. I look forward to continuing to work with her on multiple community projects, and I encourage residents of Fairfield County to join me in voting for Carri Brown for County Auditor on November 8.

Democrats “Act”; Republicans hypocritically try to take credit

Over the past year or so, several congressional Republicans have tried to take credit for infrastructure projects and they are hoping voters wouldn’t know the difference. CNN ran a report late last week on a related, but not identical, phenomenon: GOP lawmakers who denounced the bipartisan infrastructure plan, but who now want money from the initiative spent in their states and districts.

Last November, GOP Rep. Tom Emmer of Minnesota released a statement slamming the passage of the freshly approved infrastructure law he referred to as “President Biden’s multi-trillion dollar socialist wish list.” Then in June, Emmer — the House Republican campaign chairman leading attacks on Democrats for supporting the law — quietly submitted a wish of his own. In a letter to Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Emmer expressed his hearty support for a multimillion dollar grant to improve part of Highway 65 in his district.

Emmer’s hardly alone. Through a public records request, CNN highlighted dozens of similar pleas from Republicans who denounced the infrastructure package, only to quietly reach out to the Biden administration in the hopes that some of the funds from the law would benefit their constituents.

Republican Rep. Paul Gosar, for example, is one of Capitol Hill’s most right-wing members, and after the vote on the infrastructure legislation last fall, the Arizonan insisted that the bill “only serves to advance the America Last’s socialist agenda.”

Four months later, Gosar began making multiple appeals to the Biden administration, arguing that funding from the infrastructure package would improve the economy in his district and boost his constituents’ standard of living.Sounds like our county’s commissioners when it comes to hypocritically saying one thing against receiving infrastructure money, and welcoming it and taking credit for it.

Duh?

Democrats act and Republicans just sit back.
