On gun control in the state

As expected, Democrats in Sante Fe are piling on gun control bills as fast as they can write them.

Most of these bills have already been declared unconstitutional. None will have any effect on crime. What they will do is make instant felons out of 70% of law-abiding citizens in N.M. To the Democrat gun owners who swore "no one is going to take your guns," in the words of Bill Engvall, "Here's your sign."

These bills will make almost every semi-auto pistol, rifle and shotgun illegal. The 9 mm semi-auto handgun is the most popular home/self-defense firearm. Most of them have a minimum capacity of 10 rounds. By making the maximum capacity nine rounds many thousands of law-abiding citizens who own these for self-defense will become either felons or defenseless. Guess who will still have weapons with standard capacity magazines: criminals. Apparently Democrats like criminals so much they want to make a few thousand more with the swipe of a pen.

Law suits will be filed against every one of these bills almost immediately if passed. Politicians don't care, they will use taxpayer dollars to defend them. How about laws that actually affect criminals instead of law-abiding gun owners.
