Letters to the editor: Abortion and ideology; the right Republicans

Dangers of imposing one ideology

The overturning of Roe v. Wade has caused many individuals in the nation to become stunned and even appalled. In 1973 it was a monumental decision that protected women’s rights to an abortion and privacy. Now 50 years later it has been reversed on the basis that the Constitution does not protect the right to an abortion.

With this ruling, various conversations regarding individuals’ rights have once again come to the forefront. In a religiously plural society separation of church and state is the cornerstone of democracy. However, many feel that Christian interpretations are now the underlying values taking superiority in recent changes to legislation.

Islam does allow women the choice of abortion under certain circumstances. Of the four major schools of thought in Islam, each has different interpretations of when it’s permissible to get an abortion. In general, Islam permits abortion if the health of a woman is at risk, if there are developmental issues for the baby, and in the case of rape if the woman cannot bear the burden.

Regardless of your religious affiliation, infringement of individual rights is a slippery slope. At this time it is imperative people contact their local officials and mention the dangers imposition of one ideology can have on individuals in this diverse society.

Need to elect MAGA Republicans

Re: John Andersen’s Aug. 21 guest column, “Democratic leaderships has failed California, Ventura County”:

John Andersen, Chairman of the Ventura County Republican Party, makes valid points. But he paints the Republicans as victims of the Democrat Party instead of men and women capable of controlling our destinies.

“Fixing California and Ventura County won’t happen overnight. But county voters deserve better than what we have been given the past several years.” Andersen fails to mention that Republican Board of Supervisors Kelly Long and Bob Huber stood together in their decisions to sue the church and small business owners; declare racism a public health crisis in the county; resolve the Jan. 6 men and women are domestic terrorists, insurrectionists, and murderers; fund at over $60 million a CCP-controlled COVID services company declared by the FBI Weapons of Mass Destruction local field office as posing “serious risks”.

Andersen fails to place any responsibility for the county’s problems on the so-called Republicans. Voters must elect MAGA Republican Party candidates not RINOs. We must elect men and women who support our Constitution in word and deed. Republicans who will give us back our borders instead of Ukraine’s. Republicans who will provide for our companies that supply our power with our oil and coal. Republicans who will break the chains of the CCP, and Republicans who will take control of excessive spending and put men and women back to work. Republicans who will make America great again.

Andersen neglected to mention we need Republicans who will fight the left wing woke folks and socialist global warming climate alarmists’ totalitarians striving to destroy the USA.
