Letters to the Editor are back

They're back.

After hearing much community feedback, The News Leader will begin publishing letters to the editor again.

Over the last year, we've found that our reporting about local matters is what matters most to you. And we think amplifying your voice to state your opinions about what's important and local should be part of what this community newspaper provides its readers.

Because of limited time to go through the letters each week, please stay within our guidelines below.

Letters to the Editor
Letters to the Editor
  • The News Leader will publish letters by local readers about local issues.

  • If you cite something factual in support of your argument, please cite your sources. If we can't verify the accuracy of things you state as factual, we won't publish your letter.

  • Be local, and be ready to verify who you are. You must include a local address and phone number.

  • No name calling. Many of you may remember a time when you could discuss politics and state your views without calling people names. That's what time it is, all the time, when it comes to Letters.

  • Keep it local! We're not publishing letters by a Utah writer about a national issue or topic. If it's a statewide issue, your letter should include how you think it will have local impact.

  • Please keep your letter to around 350 words max.

  • Use the form on our website.
