Letters to the editor: Biden and inflation; GOP and climate change

Blame Biden for your paycheck

The definition of inflation is “too many dollars chasing too few products.” Since 2020 the federal government has borrowed almost $10 trillion which is now new money circulating in our economy and that has largely accelerated inflation. Then the Biden Administration and its war on fossil fuels has caused a significant decline in the supply of energy, thereby raising the price of everything from gasoline to utility bills and even groceries.

The consequences of all this profligate spending and taxing whether for stimulus checks during the “pandemic” to infrastructure, or top-down mandates on the auto industry to produce inefficient EV cars has devalued the purchasing power of everything you have from your paychecks to your Social Security checks.

If you voted for this president and his administration do not blame your employers by asking for a raise, rather put the blame where it belongs on the administration that created the problem and debased the value of your paycheck.

I know many of you hate Trump but be honest, what did it cost you to fill up your car or the cost of groceries when he was president?

What’s more important? Someone’s personality or his policies that affect you?

John R. Hanson, Oak View

GOP’s confusion over climate

If the Republicans hadn’t ridiculed and ignored climate change for as long as they have, we would be in a lot better situation. I see that the confusion and skepticism is still with us.
