Thank you for supporting the food bank

As the Food Purchaser for the Lincoln County Food Bank, I wanted to thank all of the generous people in Ruidoso and Lincoln County for their donations to our food bank. The demand for food is higher than ever. On top of the rising costs for food, we've suffered from forest fires. The McBride fire destroyed 200 homes and left many people homeless. In response, we added many new food items such as eggs, milk, and hamburger to meet the increased demand. These are expensive and donations have been trending down; we are now looking at cutting back on food as a result. Our food supply has also been impacted. We used to get a lot of our food from the RoadRunner Food Bank in Albuquerque; unfortunately it appears that they have the same problem: demand for food is higher while donations are down. We don't rely on them as much as we used to and buy most of the food locally. The local Lowe's and Albertson's stores have been a big help. The local support for the food bank has been tremendous, thanks Ruidoso! We live in a special place for sure.To help us with donations, food donations, or to volunteer or get more information, please check out our webpage at http://www.lincolncountyfoodbank.org/.Bill PetersonLincoln County Food Bank
