Trump should be sued for Big Lie

How about an Alex-Jones-style lawsuit against Trump for lying about the 2020 election?

“Speech is free. Lies you pay for,” said Wesley Hook, attorney for the parents whose son was killed in the Sandy Hook massacre.

With in his bombastic manner, Jones began to talk about conspiracy theories, the judge silenced him, saying, “You are not running the show here.”

Now that Alex Jones has finally been fined almost $50 million for his lies about Sandy Hook, it is past time for enacting a class action suit against Donald Trump for his lies about winning the 2020 election.

Against defunding the chamber

As President of the Thousand Oaks Blvd. Association, we represent property owners, small businesses and thousands of jobs along Thousand Oaks Blvd. which we all patronize and enjoy. We are proud members of the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce. We were shocked and deeply concerned learning about Supervisor Linda Parks’ call to “Defund the Chamber” last week.

Linda Parks and her handpicked replacement for Ventura County Supervisor, Claudia bill de-la Peña, have a 20-year record of voting against small businesses, the Thousand Oaks Blvd Specific Plan, and the revitalization of the TO Blvd. It is no surprise that bill de-la Peña remains silent on Parks’ call to “Defund the Chamber.” With recessionary fears and the possible impacts to our local jobs and economy, bill de-la Peña claims she wants to represent all of District 2 while consistently voting against the very economy that supports the city and county in which we all live. The 800-plus members of the chamber are the backbone of our community and provide the financial stability that protects our quality of life.

Parks, Bill de-la Peña, and anyone else looking to hold public office in our community must be able to work in a respectful, productive, and collaborative manner with all members of our community, including business, and objectively vote in the best interest of all. Otherwise, their promise of protecting and preserving our quality of life is at risk. They can’t be effective leaders without having a good relationship or the confidence of the business community.

Our chamber has been a champion for small businesses, minorities, advocates for workforce and affordable housing for teachers, healthcare workers, and first responders. We support and will continue to support their efforts to maintain a healthy, sustainable, and fiscally responsible community. Please join your business community in renouncing Parks and Bill-de la Peña’s anti-business and anti-jobs efforts.
