Letters: Impeachment fever is a dangerous condition

When will “impeachment fever” stop? What kind of government can we have with this madness taking place every term? We impeached Clinton — got nowhere — there were calls to impeach Obama — got nowhere — then Trump — twice — got nowhere and then nowhere again — and now an investigation into Biden, which will get nowhere. So we threaten to impeach every president? What a stupid waste of time and money spent acting like a monkey democracy.

When Marjorie Taylor Greene called for impeaching Biden before he had entered the White House as president it revealed the utter nuttiness of this craze. And remember, Republicans, if you actually succeed in impeaching Biden, say hello to Kamala Harris, president.

So sit down, legislators — siddown, siddown, siddown, siddownm siddown, you’re rockin' the boat.

And stop playing political games. Just run the country. We didn’t elect you to jam a stick into the spokes of our government.

Be a donor

Do you have a heart on your driver’s license? Then you’re among 4.3 million Hoosiers registered to be organ donors — 99% of you made your decision while conducting a transaction with the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

September was National Bureau of Motor Vehicles Appreciation Month, when Donate Life Indiana celebrates its longstanding relationship with the Indiana BMV and everything BMV employees do to save Hoosier lives by asking one simple question, “Would you like to be an organ donor?”

This question, asked of thousands of Hoosiers every day, adds up to nearly 1.5 million transactions each year. For eight straight years, Indiana’s donor registry has grown and the Indiana BMV has helped drive that growth through its commitment to our mission. We are incredibly thankful for our longstanding relationship with the Indiana BMV. All Hoosiers should be, too.More than 105,000 Americans are waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant, including more than 1,200 Hoosiers. Tragically, 17 people in the U.S. die each day waiting. More registered donors are needed to end the wait. If you’re not registered to be an organ donor, please consider saying “yes” the next time you’re doing business with the BMV.

An overreach?

In an article that appeared in The Tribune on June 9, reporter Joseph Dits wrote that St. Joseph County Council member Amy Drake “sought her county council seat because she saw local mask mandates for COVID-19 as an overreach of the St. Joseph County Health Department’s power.”

However, Drake submitted a resolution directing the County Council to ask the Indiana Department of Education to study the South Bend Community School Corporation’s decision to close Clay High School, even though the council has absolutely no jurisdiction over the school corporation.

Who’s overreaching now?
