Canceled debt is worth something

President Joe Biden is canceling $10,000 of federal student loan debt and $10,000 for student Pell Grant debt.

Will the students whose debt is canceled have to pay the IRS income tax on the money Biden is giving them? This would give those 87,000 new IRS employees lots of tax collecting work to do!

Not looking good with Trump in play

Good or bad we have two more years of Joe Biden. During this period, I will spend all my money and complete my bucket list as we get closer and closer to the end of this world and World War III. With Donald Trump vs. Vladimir Putin, two power-crazed egomaniac dictators, what the heck do you think is going to happen? Bob Woodward says it best: "Peril."

Some bumps in the law of the land

As I recall from high school, the administration of our national government is divided into the executive (our president), legislative (Senate and Congress) and judicial (Supreme Court justices and federal judges) branches.

Shouldn’t the public be allowed to choose all who enact, modify, interpret, administrate or enforce the laws of our land? Why aren’t the higher judges on our ballots? In fact, why are Supreme Court justices appointed for life, when other judges have age restrictions?

On the local level, why should the public choose engineers or clerks of courts, positions that have no direct impact on our laws? Really, in addition to our local government officials, shouldn’t the public be the deciders of our police chiefs, even our police officers?
