Justice Thomas makes no sense

While appearing at the Heritage Foundation, a conservative educational and lobbying organization, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas stated that the leak of the draft opinion written by Justice Alito, striking down Roe v. Wade, was like an "infidelity" that would cause Americans to distrust the court.

Considering that: the Court usurped the right of the state of Florida to complete the counting of votes in the 2000 presidential election and declared George W. Bush the president; allowed the flood of dark money to corrupt our government when it declared, in Citizens United, that an individual and a corporation were one and the same; and there is a distinct perception that Justice Thomas' stand on issues may very well be influenced by his wife, Ginni, who is the head of a conservative consulting firm; I found his comments ironic, if not hypocritical.

Bureaucracy led to baby formula crisis

The baby formula shortage, with mothers desperately searching for it to feed their babies, is attributable to a lackadaisical response by the Food and Drug Administration, which failed to act expeditiously to a whistleblower's allegations last October that Abbott, the largest producer of baby formula, operated with unsafe conditions and practices.

The whistleblower report further asserted that plant records were falsified and tests for formula contamination were not done properly. FDA inspector reports found several violations back in September, unsanitary conditions and standing water but allowed the plant to continue to operate. In the case of baby formulas, a more rigorous examination and directive for curing conditions at the Abbott facility by the FDA could have forced them to addressed violations earlier and may have avoided the shutdown.

All too often, relationships between factory personnel and inspectors influence or soften requests for curing problems. In this case, it may have attributed to our nationwide shortage and the tragic deaths of innocent babies.

Just say 'no!'

In the immortal words of Republican Nancy Reagan (when speaking out against drugs,) “Just say no” (when it comes to sex). Not just once; not just twice; keep saying it and meaning it. Your guy may not be the rapist, or the husband of a woman who was raped and doesn’t want the baby, or the boyfriend of a divorced woman who can’t afford the baby as she is already taking care of two children with no help from her ex. There are as many legitimate reasons as there are requests.

To have an abortion is not a decision a woman makes lightly but it is her body and it should be her decision, not the decision of a bunch of pious people whose religion dictates their beliefs.  All women, just say no.  Eventually he may even understand that the future parent could be his son or daughter.
