No point debating with committed Trump supporter

Regarding Mr. Crawford’s and Mr. Nein’s letters of July 30: Sir, if you are a dyed-in–the-wool, committed Trump supporter, if you have drunk the Kool-Aid, which obviously you have, it will do absolutely no good, for us, to debate with each other.

There is no way that we can have a rational conversation or debate. It would be a total waste of my time as well as yours. In the words of Isaac Asinov, “When stupidity is considered patriotism, it is unsafe to be intelligent.” As for the implication that I am a racist, I assure you that I am not. As I have stated many times, I am not a racist. I am a realist.

There is a difference. If you have read and interpreted my writings correctly, you would realize that, through my writings, I try to promote peace, unity and inclusion for everyone, regardless of ethnicity. I am truly sorry that you misinterpreted my efforts. I must say that considering the things that Trump has done and continues to do, I do not see how any rational individual could so blindly support such a person.

Especially, so-called Christians. This is the height of hypocrisy. I have not expressed any adoration for Joe Biden. However, I do prefer him to someone as unfit as Donald Trump.

Complaints against Calkins ironic

Upon reading the article about the ethics complaints filed against Santa Rosa Commissioner Calkins, I was struck by how the complainants were guilty of using inflammatory rhetoric and false accusations to bolster their complaints against Republicans (i.e., some of whom are now unjustly imprisoned for the “crime” of using their Constitutional right to freedom of speech and assembly).

The irony is that their complaints justify his concern. Once again words are deemed as violence by Democrats and justification for their paranoid reactions. The Constitutional right of Freedom of Speech is their worst enemy and their leaders have been doing everything in their power to stop it. Speech is not violence. And being offended isn’t a crime. It’s the price of living in a free country and one of the first things to be targeted by those who want to destroy all of our freedoms.

Paradoxically, if offensive and inflammatory speech were illegal, many Democrat leaders (i.e., Maxine Waters and others) would be in jail for the inflammatory remarks and cries for violence that have been made against any and all Republicans…not just leaders.

So, before Democrats get all offended about being insulted by a Republican, they need to go look in the mirror and answer the question – what about the words used by your leaders (whom you support) that vilify those of us who do not agree with them or their policies? Hmm?

Liars won’t enter heaven

God bless Rabbi Danow of Temple Beth El and Chabad Center, Pensacola Jewish Community. His attitude toward the vandals and unwillingness to retaliate are commendable! Shame on all anti-Semites.

Shame, too, on the Biden administration, cohorts, the mob hell bent on incarcerating Trump with their multiple indictments, vitriolic lies, etc., while they, Hillary, et. al., “got away with murder,” so-to-speak. Trump’s handling the mess and vindictive attacks valiantly! How? Obviously by almighty God’s grace! I marvel at how God is sustaining him. It’s the only explanation!

God commands we pray for those in authority over us. I do, that they’ll experience the lord and savior of the world, Jesus Christ, whereupon America will return to God, and once again be the nation it was originally discovered to be - One Nation Under God. Hallelujah! Somebody needs to tell the liars in this mess that no liars will enter Heaven. (Revelation 21:8) Before it’s too late they need to repent!

Hamilton’s words still ring true

This is an appeal to sanity and reason in our electorate, and a warning:

“The only path to a subversion of the Republican system of the country is, by flattering the prejudices of the people, and exciting their jealousies and apprehensions, to throw affairs into confusion, and bring on civil commotion. When a man unprincipled in private life, desperate in his fortune, bold in his temper...is seen to mount the hobby horse of popularity, he may ‘ride the storm and direct the whirlwind.’ “

With thanks to the wisdom and prescience of Alexander Hamilton, 1790.

Keep our troops out of Texas

Gov. Abbott of Texas has apparently lost patience with our federal government’s policy of “catch and release” at our southern border. His recent implementation of a buoy line at this international border has already resulted in fatalities in the Rio Grande river.

I’m not sure what Abbott has named this new operation, but the result seems to be “catch and kill.” I’ll leave it to Texans to make their own decisions as to whether this new trend is acceptable to them. As a Floridian, my concerns are with Gov. DeSantis and his massive deployment of law enforcement as well as Florida National Guard units to Texas.

I hope no person from Florida has had any involvement with these atrocities. I strongly urge Gov. DeSantis to immediately return all Floridians to their home state.

Creets Landing just the start

Congratulations to Santa Rosa County on Creets Landing, 545 acres, creating a county preserve in Navarre, providing a nature habitat, recreational opportunities, and mitigating flood risks.

Chairman Wright said “This is an example of what can be accomplished when so many people come together to work toward a common goal…it is important that we continue to seek out similar opportunities and work diligently to achieve them for the benefit of future generations.”

Preserving some of the few remaining natural lands – in the Midway area – should be next on the county’s list. Save Our Soundside has already submitted lists of suggested property in the Midway area to be preserved and conserved. But now seems like a good time to update that list of wetlands and woodlands and submit them again.

It’s our hope, that by working together, through preservation and conservation, we can prevent future stormwater issues and flooding, while protecting residents, waterways and wildlife on our delicate south end peninsula.

Trump tax cuts did us no favors

If there’s one thing MAGA Republicans have in common with other Americans it’s that they resent being played for suckers and if you’re like most paycheck earners, Trump did exactly that with his tax cuts. Most tax cuts went to high earners and businesses with meager deductions for regular folks according to the Tax Policy Center, a joint venture of the Brookings Institute and Urban Institute which provide data to the government.

At the same time Congressional Republicans want to hobble the IRS’s efforts to go after wealthy tax evaders and wealthy corporations who aren’t paying their due under current tax law. With ballooning federal deficits, Fitch downgraded America’s dept rating. That means we’re all paying more interest on a growing dept load, money that could otherwise be spent on defense, infrastructure and the day to day needs of citizens. Trump’s tax cuts didn’t do ordinary Americans and favors.

They just foisted more federal debt plus interest onto our kids. Think about that next time you watch a Blue Angels show with the family. Mention to the youngsters that they’ll be paying for the show when they grow up.

We deserve better. Trump played you for a sucker.

GOP should focus on real issue

In America, there is a legal system that permits aggrieved persons to charge someone or complain to authorities about the theft of one’s goods. An investigation is initiated, and where appropriate, charges are made followed by a trial.

This is the process for holding a thief accountable. Standing in front of a podium with a microphone and broadcasting to millions that your reelection has been “stolen” is not proof of a crime or identifies a thief. I am waiting for the Republican nation to prove that the 2020 presidential election was “stolen” (and by whom) or shut up.

The Republicans in the House of Representatives should spend as much time and effort to prove the 2020 presidential election was stolen as they are trying to prove that Hunter Biden and his father are corrupt purveyors of influence peddling. I’ll wait.
