ON THE LEVEL: Former area prep stars climb ladder

Following is a look at how area prep athletes have done in recent college sports competition.

Elena Fries (Bartlesville)

Julie Skalicky (Bartlesville)

Rogers State women’s cross country

During the recent RSU Invitational, Skalicky charged to fourth-place overall (14:34.76) in the 4K. Fries came in 14th (15:.26.73). Skalicky were Bartlesville High teammates and both qualified for the state meet.

Sydney Collins (Bartlesville)

Oklahoma Wesleyan volleyball

Collins has been something special at OKWU, which is off to an 18-1 start. She has lined up at setter and leads the team in assists (334) and is No. 2 in digs (129). She is third in service aces (14).

Briley Anne-Brown (Bartlesville)

Harding women’s soccer

Brown has dealt out two of Harding’s 11 assists in the first six matches. She has appeared in every match, started five of them, and taken three shots, one on goal. She recorded one of her assists in Harding’s 1-1 tie against Southwest Baptist. Harding is off to a 1-4-1 start.

Bryce Drummond (Pawhuska)

North Texas football

Drummond saw field time in the Mean Green’s 39-27 throttling last Saturday of Texas Southern. Drummond (6-3, 219) is a redshirt freshman, who originally signed as a quarterback but is listed this year as a linebacker.

Jalen Belong (Bartlesville)

Oregon State men’s soccer

Belong made his first match appearance as a true freshman for the Beavers. He came off the bench to play nine minutes at forward in a 3-1 loss to UC Santa Barbara. Oregon State is 1-2-1 on the season.

Mia Otten (Bartlesville)

Dayton volleyball

Otten has seen limited time in her true freshman year, playing in four sets. She has made one attack and assisted on a block. Otten owns the single-season and career kills’ records for Bartlesville. Dayton is 5-4 on the season.

Spencer White (Bartlesville)

Oklahoma Wesleyan men’s soccer

The former Bruin has appeared in three matches for Eagles (1-3-1).

Braeden Winters (Bartlesville)

Southeastern Oklahoma football

Winters, who is listed as a freshman redshirt inside linebacker, saw playing time off the bench in last weekend’s 38-13 loss to Harding.

Laken Clowdus (Bartlesville)

Friends football

Clowdus has played in all three games but had only four carries for seven yards. Last year, Clowdus ran for more than 600 yards as the Falcons’ leading rusher. Clowdus also has made five tackles (three solo). Friends is 0-3 through the season’s early going.
