Following are brief summaries on how some former area prep stars fared in recent college action.

BRAEDEN WINTERS (Bartlesville), Southeastern Oklahoma football: Winters contributed two tackles, was credited with a quarterback hurry — and racked up a sack — during Southeastern’s 62-14 rout of Oklahoma Baptist last weekend. SOSU is 5-3.

EMMA SHELLEY (Bartlesville), Central Oklahoma women’s golf: During a partial round Monday at the Tulsa Cup at Forest Ridge, Shelley shot plus-6 through 13 holes, tying her for 33rd. Shelley turned in Central Oklahoma’s third best score to help the team stand in second place, just two strokes between Central Missouri.

ELENA FRIES (Bartlesville), Rogers State women’s cross country: Fries set a personal best of 19:06.2 in last weekend’s UAH DII Festival Your Showcase 5K in Huntsville, Ala. She rounded out the scoring for RSU, which finished eighth out of 44 teams.

AIDAN HOWZE (Bartlesville), University of Kansas women’s swimming: Howze swam on the University of Kansas 200-yard medley relay D team and helped it finish sixth in last week’s Kansas-Lindenwood-South Dakota Tri-Meet in Lawrence, Kan. Howze — a true freshman — made her best showing in the women’s 400 individual medley, bursting to third place (4:41.21), the third-fastest time by a KU swimmer. She also sparkled in the women’s 100 breaststroke, finishing fifth at 1:07.46. Howze posted another top-six finish in the women’s 200 breaststroke, coming in sixth (2:26.37).

CHESNIE HEWITT (Oklahoma Union), Murray State softball: Murray State powered to a 2-1 record in its last three games, including wins against Oklahoma Baptist and Oklahoma Christian University. In the 7-6 thriller against Oklahoma Christian, Hewitt batted leadoff and belted a single, drove in a run and scored twice.

BRILEY-ANNE BROWN (Bartlesville): Harding women’s soccer: Brown tallied a goal in a 2-2 tie against Northwestern Oklahoma.

JILLIAN SKALICKY (Bartlesville), Rogers State women’s cross country: Skalicky swooped past the finish line in 19:31 in last weekend’s UAH DII Festival Year Showcase 5K. RSU finished eighth out of 44 teams.

LAKEN CLOWDUS (Bartlesville), Friends football: Clowdus averaged six yards a carry on two totes in the 28-13 loss to Ottawa. One of his runs went for 11 yards.
