Levelland city manager resigns

LEVELLAND — After less than a year in the position, Levelland's city manager is moving on.

City Manager Brandon Anderson has tendered his resignation to the Levelland City Council, which the council will likely accept during a May 15 meeting when they are also expected to appoint an interim city manager, the city announced in a news release Wednesday. Anderson will be moving to Kansas to be closer to family, reads the statement.

Anderson was appointed city manager of Great Bend, Kansas by that city's mayor Monday night, the Great Bend Tribune reported. He will begin that role in the city of 14,580, about 100 miles northwest of Wichita, on June 30.

Anderson started as Levelland city manager in June last year after the prior City Manager Erik Rejino resigned to take a job as assistant city manager in Lubbock. Before moving to Levelland, Anderson served as city manager in Graham for about seven years.

The City of Levelland praised Anderson's accomplishments during his tenure, including initiatives to expand housing and build a new sewage treatment plant.

"The council wishes him the verybest in his future endeavors.
