Levitt Amp series, Legacy of giving, evening of magic on tap this weekend in springfield

Listen to local music, honor loved ones, or watch magic tricks at events happening in Springfield this weekend.

Here are five events to attend:

Levitt Amp Springfield Music Series

The Levitt Amp Springfield Music series returns to downtown with Soul and Senior night this Thursday.

The event begins at 6 p.m. on the Y block between Fourth and Jackson streets.

Lili Lewis Project takes the stage at 8 p.m. Baad Boyz band and other local acts will open the show.

Legacy of Giving Music Festival

Listen to bands while shopping at the Legacy of Giving Musical Festival this weekend.

The free event begins at 4 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m Saturday at the Old State Capitol Historic Site at 1 Old Capitol Plaza.

Some 60 bands will perform across five stages and there will be 30 vendors with a variety of products. Food trucks will be present and a kids area will be available.

A 5K and 10K race and a disc golf tournament will also be featured throughout the day.

SIU Butterfly Release

Celebrate caregivers and survivors of health issues at the 15th annual Butterfly release hosted on Saturday.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. in the Thomas Garden of Hope at the Simmons Cancer Institute located at 315 W. Carpenter St. The event begins at 10 a.m.

The ceremony will include a public reading of names of people being honored, music, inspirational reading and the release of butterflies. Butterfly sponsorships are available for $25.

Evening of Magic

Watch nationally acclaimed magicians do tricks and more at an Evening of Magic on Saturday.

The event begins at 7 p.m. in the LRS Theatre of the Hoogland Center for the Arts, 420 S. Sixth St.

Comedy Magician Michael Finney and five other world class magicians specializing in stage magic, juggling, and more will be featured. Comedy magician Jeff Harpring will emcee.

Tickets are $20.

Beer Tasting

Let your taste buds roam at the Non Alcoholic Beer Tasting on Sunday.

The event takes place from 4-5 p.m. at the Wakery, 5 W. Old Capitol Plaza. Tickets are $25 per person and also include one food item.
