Lewis Black, macaroni and cheese and beer? Fun mix of laughs and music on Ocean City slate

April Fools’ Day is this weekend, and a comedy event in Ocean City will feature a famous funny man who does not suffer fools gladly.

Lewis Black, whose incendiary stage act has earned him the nickname King of Rant, will dish out the laughs to a packed house at the Ocean City Performing Arts Center at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 1 ($57). As of Tuesday, there were a mere 13 tickets left for purchase — and all were single seats scattered throughout the auditorium.

The show is part of Black’s nationwide Off the Rails tour. He apologized to fans after having to postpone a trio of performances earlier this month for unspecified reasons, but rescheduled those and is back on the road now.

National comedy favorite Lewis Black will perform to a packed house at the Ocean City Performing Arts Center on Saturday, April 1.

Elsewhere in OC, Seacrets’ second annual Craft, Mac & Cheers Pig Roast and Beerfest will take place from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 1 ($49). Music this year comes courtesy of Philadelphia party act Big House Band, which mixes the sounds of Motown, rock, country and pop.

Lead singer and saxophonist Jimi Milligan graced the television airwaves in 2014 when he appeared on Season 7 of "The Voice."

Another reality show contestant with the last name Milligan will also be coming to Delmarva this year. The Bottle & Cork nightclub in Dewey Beach has placed tickets on sale ($25) for a performance by Texas country vocalist Drake Milligan — no relation to Jimi — who will appear at 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10.

He came in third last year on Season 17 of "America’s Got Talent," drawing high praise from judge Simon Cowell.

The Cork, which will open for its 87th season Saturday, May 6, is also selling tickets ($25) for an 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, performance by Andy Frasco & the U.N.

The Los Angeles group mixes rock, blues funk and other styles, and is increasing its fan base on the national touring circuit. It had previously made six appearances in the past seven years at the nearby Starboard nightclub, whose owner Steve “Monty” Montgomery took a chance on them after a booking agent’s recommendation in 2016.

In other concert news, the seasonal Freeman Arts Pavilion in Selbyville put another large batch of summer tickets on sale last week and again saw thousands of eager music fans snatching them up.

Tickets are on sale now for a summer performance by country vocalist Drake Milligan at the Bottle & Cork nightclub in Dewey Beach on Thursday, Aug. 10 ($25). Milligan was a finalist last year on "America's Got Talent" on NBC.

While there weren’t any instant sellouts like when the first round of shows was unveiled last month (Styx, Lady A, Darius Rucker), there are some that are getting close. The most popular sellers according to seating charts include Ziggy Marley, the Steve Miller Band, the Counting Crows and Cheap Trick.
