Sep. 30—The drive-thru COVID-19 testing location on South Gold Street in Centralia closed Thursday.

An estimated 12,162 people have been tested at the location since the drive-up option, operated by the Washington State Department of Health, began offering tests in November 2021.

COVID-19 testing continues at various medical clinics and pharmacies throughout Lewis County, including Valley View Health Centers; Arbor Health Clinics; Washington Park Direct Care and Quick Clinic; Mary's Corner Medical Clinic; Northwest Pediatric Center; River Valley Community Health; Woodland Urgent Care; Rite-Aid and Walgreens.

Local schools continue to provide testing for students and staff as well.

"After the onset of the illness and testing positive for the virus, when symptoms improve and an individual is fever-free, a person should stay home for five days before returning to school," Lewis County Health Officer Dr. Joe Wiley said in a news release, commenting on a COVID-19 decision-tree used by local schools.

"It's good to know there are ways to protect others, from not just COVID, but other illnesses and seasonal viruses," Wiley said. "Be wise and make sure you support your immune health."
