Lewisburg man killed after car accident in Summers County

PENCE SPRINGS, WV (WVNS) — A Lewisburg man was killed in a car accident in Summers County on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.

According to a member of the Summers County Sheriff’s Office, on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 a call came in around 3:00 p.m. for a single-car accident on Routes 3 and 12 in the Pence Springs area of Summers County.

The member of the Summers County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Estil Burns, of Lewisburg, was killed in the accident. They also stated that Burns was the only person in the car, and that speed was not believed to be the cause of the crash.

Responding agencies included Talcott Volunteer Fire Department Station 51, Forest Hill Volunteer Fire Department Station 14, Summers County Volunteer Fire Department Station 13, Hinton Fire Department Station 21, the West Virginia State Police, the Summers County Sheriff’s Office, and EMS.

The cause of the crash is unknown, and the accident is still under investigation.
