Lexington Craft Beer Week is back, and the special releases include an ice cream brew

One of Lexington’s most popular foodie events returns for another pour: Lexington Craft Beer Week is May 12-21.

The celebration of local breweries begins on May 12 with four special releases. Country Western Vol. 11, a collaboration of Country Boy and West Sixth breweries, is an Oyster Gose this year, available at all West Sixth sites at 11 a.m. and at Country Boy Brewing locations at 5 p.m.

Blue Stallion Brewing will release its Bock Sabboth, a Maibock/Helles Bock in cans and on draft at 11 a.m. at the brewery on West Third Street.

Mirror Twin Brewing will have two releases: 586 Monster, a New England IPA, and Sidequest 4, a White Wine Grape Ale, in cans and on draft beginning at 11 a.m. at the National Avenue brewery.

And The Void Sake Co. will release Emerge Seltzer in a new lychee flavor on draft and Yuzu Lemon in cans beginning at 4 p.m. at the National Avenue brewery.

Even more special beer releases are planned for Saturday, May 13 including a Mirror Twin collaboration with Crank & Boom ice cream: Crank and Brew, a barrel-aged milk stout with coconut ice cream and white chocolate in cans and on draft.

Find all the activities from nightly pub crawls through Euclid Avenue’s restaurants and nightly Beer Garden Happy Hours at Lexington Brewing and Distilling’s Cross Street taproom to daily beer releases, trivia nights, tap takeovers and beer battles at Lexbeerscene.com.

The final day includes Country Boy’s seventh annual Beer Cheese Contest from 1 to 5 p.m. at 108 Corporate Blvd. in Georgetown, where you can enter your beer cheese recipe or just come sample more than 30 of the best beer cheeses from around Kentucky and vote for your favorites.
