A Lexington restaurant has changed names, menu items. Here’s what to know

A Japanese restaurant that opened earlier this year in Lexington has changed names and is switching the focus of its menu entrees.

In February, Taipo Ramen House opened at 5341 Sunset Blvd. suite C. That’s in the Topspin Plaza shopping center in the busy Sunset Boulevard retail corridor. The restaurant initially focused heavily on various ramen noodle dishes.

On Wednesday, the business announced on social media it would be renamed Ichiban Japanese Express and would switch its main entree focus to hibachi dishes. An online menu for Ichiban Japanese Express highlights items such as teriyaki chicken, hibachi chicken, filet mignon, hibachi steak, shrimp and more.

Ichiban Japanese Express also will offer boba drinks, Japanese sodas and sushi rolls, among other items.

“Thank you very much for your visits and love of Taipo Ramen House over the past two months and thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve you,” Taipo said on Facebook. “During this time we gained a lot of advice, which is very important to us.”

A new Facebook page has been created for Ichiban Japanese Express.

Taipo noted that fans of ramen dishes can still visit the Hokkaido Ramen House in Lexington, which is located at 205 Columbia Ave. suite B, right behind Rush’s.

The newly christened Ichiban is located along a bustling Sunset Boulevard corridor that is packed with retail businesses, including grocery stores, restaurants, big box stores and more. It is about a mile east of the Target store in Lexington. Nearly 44,000 cars per day pass down the boulevard in that stretch, per the S.C. Department of Transportation.

The restaurant formerly known as Taipo Ramen House at 5341 Sunset Blvd. in Lexington is now known as Ichiban Japanese Express and is focusing its entree menu on hibachi.
