Lexington restaurant inspections lead to tossed hot dogs, chicken & more. See the list.

The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department’s latest update on its publicly available restaurant inspection database includes details on specific notices to correct.

The notices shown cover July, August, September and early October.

Issues include observation of rodent droppings and insects in the kitchen, missing posted inspection score placard, missing restaurant handler permits, plumbing problems and more.

Some inspections resulted in immediate restaurant closure. Other inspections result in placement on the health department’s watch list for Enhanced Regulatory Enforcement, with more inspections.

The health department also ordered at least 27 places to quarantine or voluntarily destroy items deemed unsafe, for instance if the food had not been kept at appropriate temperatures.

Lexington restaurants where food was destroyed, thrown out

During this inspection period, more than 1,500 pounds of food were destroyed, or thrown away, including:

▪ Kroger Field Concession #267, Sept. 16, 2023, all hot dogs in this one stand.

▪ Bluefire Bar & Grill, 401 W. High St., Aug. 16, 2023, 4 pounds of butter and 6 pounds of cottage cheese.

▪ Hardee’s, 202 New Circle Rd., July 26, 2023, 15 pounds of bagged egg, 5 pounds of country ham, 8 pounds of cheese/ham.
