Lexington Sporting Club scored two goals in a match for the first time and earned a historic first victory in club history with a 2-1 defeat of South Georgia Tormenta FC on Saturday night in Georgetown.

Nico Brown got Lexington SC on the board in the 15th minute, and after Tormenta FC tied it, it was Owen Green connecting on what proved to be the winning goal in the 72nd minute.

“We worked really hard and we played well together,” Brown said, according to a report by the team. “It was a great result for us and we keep working, this is not the end result. It’s good to finally get three points.”

Lexington SC, 1-1-2 (W-D-L) was coming off earning its first point in club history with a 0-0 draw against Forward Madison FC in its home opener last Saturday. This time, a crowd of 2,621 was on hand to see the club break through for its first win.

Brown was assisted by Ates Diouf on his goal. Tormenta FC’s Jackson Khoury evened things up on a penalty kick. Phila Dlamini assisted on Green’s goal.

“I’ve spoken so much about this group of men, these players, how hard they want it, how much they want to work, how much they’re prepared to go the extra mile to do it,” Lexington SC head coach Sam Stockley said. “They’re all bought in, they’re a fantastic group and hopefully now you see it on the field. How much it means to us and how much it means to you as a community to try and be successful.”

Next up for Lexington SC is the club’s third straight home match, this time against Greenville Triumph SC at Toyota Stadium at 7 p.m. Saturday.
