Lexington teacher will attempt a 15-yard throw at UK game to win $1 million for classroom

Frederick Douglass High School teacher Kristine Miller will attempt a 15-yard throw for a chance to win $1 Million for classroom resources during the University of Kentucky vs. Alabama football game Nov. 11.

Miller teaches anatomy and biology to 10th-12th graders at Frederick Douglass High School in Lexington. If she can hit a target from 15 yards away, she’ll bring home a significant boost for resources in science rooms at the school. Now in her sixth year as an educator, Miller said in a news release that the content stays the same, “but every group of students brings a new twist to the classroom.”

“I love getting to know my students and hopefully make them passionate about the content or interested in learning,” Miller said.

The $1 Million Challenge for Teachers is sponsored by Eckrich, which is the official smoked sausage and deli meat sponsor of the College Football Playoff. The company is sup $1 Million Challenge for Teachers, which supports classroom resource projects within local school districts and celebrates teachers across the United States, according to a news release.

If successful in the Eckrich $1 Million Challenge, Miller hopes to use the money to supply science classrooms with resource they need to help enhance hands-on learning.

Miller will be preparing for the 15-yard throw in her backyard and taking tips from her students, she said.
