Lexington traffic: New Circle Road reopened after vehicle flips over

East New Circle Road is now fully reopened after a vehicle overturned in the road Wednesday morning, causing police to briefly block off one lane, according to the Lexington Traffic Management Center.

The accident happened shortly after 7 a.m. A tire blew out on the vehicle, causing it to flip, according to Lt. Joe Anderson with the Lexington Police Department.

Only the driver occupied the vehicle and they were uninjured, Anderson said.

Police had the right lane of New Circle Road just past Alumni Drive closed as of 7:20 a.m. while they investigated the crash, according to the traffic management center. At 7:40 a.m. Anderson said he anticipated the road would reopen shortly. Approximately 20 minutes later, the traffic management center sent out a tweet saying the road had reopened.

This is a developing story and may be updated.
