Lexington's Alex Depperschmidt, Ontario's Gage Weaver named first team All-Ohio in Division II

COLUMBUS — They were Richland County's best of the best.

And the Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association agreed. Lexington senior Alex Depperschmidt and Ontario senior Gage Weaver were both named first team All-Ohio in Division II boys soccer for their sensational seasons.

Depperschmidt led Lexington to a fifth consecutive district championship and a regional semifinal appearance before the Minutemen fell 2-1 to eventual state champion Lima Shawnee. Lexington went 15-5-1 during Depperschmidt's senior year when he did a lot of everything for the Minutemen. He scored 24 goals and added 23 assists to finish with career totals of 44 goals and 51 assists.

He owns the Lexington boys soccer record for most assists in a season and is No. 2 in career assists. He is also in the top 10 for most goals scored in a career.

Weaver was the area's leading scorer and helped the Warriors win the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference championship for the sixth consecutive season. He finished the year with 37 goals and 14 assists to give him 99 goals and 27 assists for his career. He is the program's all-time leading scorer and earned All-America honors last season. Ontario finished 12-8-1 this season.
