When members of the LGBTQ community are subjected to abuse, both physical and verbal, we need community leaders to stand up, to stand with the gays and transgenders who are victimized. So we owe a thank you to Kevin Aldridge of the Enquirer, but he is almost alone.

If West Virginia University basketball coach Bob Huggins’ apology is real, will he stand up the next time there is an attack on a member of the LGBTQ community and give the message that they are equal citizens and have equal rights and are deserving of the same respect and love as other human beings? Will he stand side by side when members of the LGBTQ community go to legislatures and urge lawmakers to give them equal rights? Will he go on the radio and give this message?

Coach Huggins, your money is not needed. Your leadership is.
