LHS Nordic skiing finishes four in top 10 of 5.5k classic in Casper

Jan. 7—The Laramie High Nordic skiing team had two individuals finish inside the top seven of Saturday's 5.5k classic race at the Don and Sue Jacobson Memorial on Casper Mountain.

Jack Voos was LHS' fastest skier on the day, finishing fifth in the boys race at 19 minutes, 34 seconds. Voos was 21 seconds behind Kelly Walsh's Luke Schmidt, who finished fourth.

Gideon Moore took seventh at 20:02.1, beating out Natrona County's William Blair (20:23.5), Lander's Owen Firth (20:34.4), Kelly Walsh's Everett Robinson (20:38.1) and Lander's Logan Heller (20:52.5).

Flynn Arnold finished 12th at 21:13.7, and Jackson Crain finished 23rd in 24.40.

On the girls side, Eliza Fay finishing sixth at 23:39.8. Fay was followed by Morgan Gelwicks in 10th at 25:23.6 and Anna Kaiser in 18th in 26:48.2.

Zeren Homer claimed 30th at 29:01.7, and Melissa Bingham finished 39th at 30:45.4. Three more Plainsmen finished inside the top 50, with Annabelle Arnold in 43rd at 33:00.6, Colleen Sommerfeld in 44th at 33.25 and Julep Gray was 45th at 33:25.4.

The LHS Nordic skiing team returns to the slopes Friday in Jackson.
