LI Couple Start Unique Wedding Entertainment Business

EAST PATCHOGUE, NY — An East Patchogue couple recently turned their love of music into a new local business.

Ana Salvemini, 40, and Jimmy Salvemini, 50, who were married four years ago, finally decided to launch their company, AMP DJ/BAND HYBRID, in 2020.

Both have a long history in the music industry, having worked as wedding singers for the past 20 years.

Jimmy was previous on the TV show, Star Search, before releasing his first album, "Roll It." He also sings backup for singer George LaMond.

"We wanted to share our years of experience in the industry with others and be our own bosses," she told Patch.

The business, which Ana describes as the "unicorn of wedding entertainment," provides a half DJ and half band entertainment for weddings.

"We are singing DJs, a singing drummer and we provide MC services for events. We provide live musicians for wedding ceremonies and cocktail hour as well as photo booths and many other next-level upgrades," she said. "There are many clients who can’t decide whether they want a band or a DJ for their event, now they don’t have to choose. We are the best of both worlds."

The most unique service the business provides is a personalized wedding song, where members of the AMP camp will write, produce and record a unique love song for couples to be played or performed at their wedding.

The two were most excited to start their business in the same place where they grew up.

"We are both native Long Islanders and couldn’t think of a better place to start our business," Ana said.

The two currently live in the house Jimmy grew up in, which his father and uncles built.

"The history here is very special to us," Ana said. "We are part of a wonderful community and proud members of the Miramar Beach Civic Association."

However, starting their business also came with some roadblocks due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"We were initially scheduled to tape our promo video right before the shutdown. We had to find a new location and start from scratch," Ana said. "Our industry depends on people being able to gather for weddings and special events. We are hopeful that with vaccines on the horizon, we can get bank to celebrating together with live music very soon."
