Liberty London and Lele Sadoughi Collaborate on a Line of Headbands

Liberty of London and Lele Sadoughi are both heavy hitters in their respective fields. Liberty of London was founded in 1875 on Regent Street in London, and soon became a shopping destination due to its unique objects and collections sourced from all over the world. The shopping house was so influential in the realms of interior design and dress during the turn of the 20th century that even the Art Nouveau period in Italy was named the "Liberty Style." Today, Liberty is beloved not only by eclectic shoppers, it's also a favorite of Kate Middleton's. As for Lele Sadoughi, the maximalist accessories designer is known for her bejeweled knotted headbands and playful jewelry. Her cheerful, and glitzy designs quickly became a favorite of accessories lovers across the globe, and much like Liberty, including our favorite, Kate Middleton.

For this collaboration, Liberty and Lele Sadoughi dug into Liberty's archives and the new season's prints. To find the perfect pairings for the headbands and hair accessories, the duo began with Liberty's most popular prints, often blending whimsy and classic favorites. Liberty describes the collaboration as "The meeting of two maximalists: Lele’s signature hair accessories reimagined in quintessential Liberty florals." And how right they are. One of the best things about this collaboration is the interesting juxtaposition of the embellishments onto the fabric. Sadoughi shares with T&C that these surprising combinations strike at the core of her brand, stating that "we love to mix wild colors with unexpected embellishments like colorful crystals on a dark, moody print and deep lapis colored stones on a bright cheery floral." This design theme can be seen throughout her collections, and arguably is the reason why the brand has such a cult following. Another key element of the collaboration is the adorable children's styles. There is something for every kid, be it a more simple rose patterned bow tie headband, or for the burgeoning glamazon who wants to match Mom, a decked out crystal knotted headband.
