Library Lines: Come visit our friends at the library!

We would like to introduce you to our friends. The Friends of the Cheboygan Public Library are a group of volunteers who support the mission of the Cheboygan Library, which is to strive for excellence in providing quality materials and services which fulfill the educational, informational, cultural, and recreational needs of the entire community in an atmosphere that is welcoming, respectful and professional.

As advocates for the library, the Friends donate time and talents to raise awareness and funds for the library. The Friends manage the Book Nook second-hand bookshop located on the lower-level Tuesdays and Saturdays from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Funds earned from the sale of books and materials and through membership help fund the Gift of Reading initiative which spreads the love of books within the community by giving books to area youth in December and during the Family Fun Day at the County Fair in August.

The Friends also provide financial support for library programs, summer reading programs, and contribute to digital service subscriptions and special library projects. The Friends welcome new members and invite you to their next meeting on Tuesday, April 11, in the lower level of the library Neuss meeting room A at 1 p.m.

Keep the Library in your pocket! Library patrons from several Northern Michigan libraries can now download the PAC2 App to their smartphone or tablet and have instant access to the library catalog at their fingertips. The app has all the features of our online catalog. Browse our collection, place holds and renew books online. The PAC2 app can store your library card so if you leave home without your card just open the app select your card and scan to check out. Download this free app from Apple App Store or Google Play. Visit the library and pick up a bookmark with the QRL code then scan to download the PAC2 app.

Do you need assistance using your electronic device or phone? Questions about apps, managing your social media, email, eBooks or other digital services? Library staff can help answer your technology questions. Tech help is available on Fridays from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Schedule an appointment or stop by and let us know how we can help. We are happy to assist you.

There is still time to pick up a Mini Peep Diorama Kit! Free kits are available now through April 5. Create a family-friendly or book-themed scene and return your creative diorama to the Library by April 7. Peep Dioramas will be on display in the Children’s Room from April 10-16. Save the dates! STEAM (science technology engineering art math) classes are in the works at the Cheboygan Library. Youths ages 8-12 years old are invited to join us after school on Thursday, April 13, and Thursday, April 20.
