Come and enjoy an evening of poetry with poet and essayist Arra Lynn Ross on Aug. 11 at 6 p.m. at the Cheboygan Area Public Library. Published by Milkweed Editions, Arra Lynn’s latest book “Day of the Child” examines the unique emotions and energies of a mother and son’s relationship. It is a “tender, generous and generative extended poem centered on the experience of parenthood.”

Arra Lynn’s first book of poetry, “Seedlip and Sweet Apple” utilizes extensive historical research to thematically bring to life the voice of Mother Ann Lee, the founder of the Shaker religion in colonial America. As described by Milkweed Editions, her debut work is “Broadly and inclusively spiritual … capture[ing] the ineffable experience of ecstatic vision, activating the progression from literal reality to heightened perception.”
