Library Lines: Summer readers? ‘Sea’ you soon

If you’ve stopped in at a Worthington Libraries branch recently, you might have noticed your favorite location teeming with construction paper octopuses, sharks and other sea life in honor of the library’s ocean-themed summer reading club, “Dive Into Reading.”

From May 31 to July 31, babies, children, teens and adults can fish as they wish, meaning there’s more than one way to complete the club. Participants could read, complete creative DIY activities, attend library programs or do any combination of the three. For a list of programming, which includes jugglers, storytellers, art, games, outdoor movies and so much more, go to worthingtonlibraries.org/calendar.

Books await those who “fin”ish the program. Children and teens may choose a new book of their own to keep, and adults may select a title from the Friends Foundation book-sale shelves at Old Worthington Library, Northwest Library and Worthington Park Library. In addition to a free book, those who complete the club are entered into a grand-prize drawing for one of 12 $100 VISA gift cards.

A new addition to this year’s summer reading club is the opportunity to vote for the library’s Columbus Zoo and Aquarium sponsor animals. Help us choose three of the following: Florida manatee, harbor seal, polar bear or stingray. The more reading completed, library programs attended and DIY activities completed, the more votes you get.
