Library: Reject library book censorship in Prattville

The hypocrites trying to remove books from library shelves decry “cancel culture” when it pertains to Robert E. Lee statues or Aunt Jemima pancakes, and then push to cancel library books that fail to meet their narrow criteria of decency.

Libraries are bastions of inclusion and champions of diversity. To allow one pious group to dictate what everyone should read is reminiscent of Prohibition a hundred years ago.

Hoover Representative Susan Dubose calling the American Library Association “toxic” and “taxpayer funded indoctrination of children” is ludicrous. Disassociating from them would invite rogue library boards operating without oversight.

As a mother, grandmother, bibliophile, former library professional and current Prattville resident, I’m concerned on many levels. Please reject censorship. Support your local library, the dedicated professionals within them and the equanimity they espouse.
