Update: License plates from many U.S. states coming to Brewster boy
BREWSTER – He got 'em all.
Two weeks after the Navarre Police Department and Massillon Independent highlighted 7-year-old Luke Reicosky's goal to acquire a license plate from all 50 states, his collection is complete – but still growing thanks to donations arriving from all over the country.
"Luke’s collection [has been] growing by the minute, thanks to so many generous people," said Luke's dad, Adam Reicosky. "He just smiles and gets so excited when more plates come in."
Luke, who will be a third grader at Fairless Elementary School this fall, has autism spectrum disorder, which can at times hinder his ability to socialize. Collecting license plates provides an interesting hobby and keeps his mind sharp.
About two weeks ago, he had nearly 300 plates. Since then, his collection has grown by the hundreds with plates being hand-delivered and arriving through the mail.
He has received donations in the mail from Dayton, Alaska, New Mexico, Kansas City, Delaware and other places.
Luke has been able to obtain "hard-to-get" ones from Alaska, Delaware, Louisiana, Maryland and Rhode Island, which gives him at least one from all 50 U.S. states. In fact, one special delivery last week provided him with at least one plate from all the states.
'He still gets really excited about this stuff.'
"This has been really cool for him," his mother Brittany Beck-Reicosky said. "He still gets really excited about this stuff."
"(Luke) is so very special to us, and now people all over get to see how special he is," his father added.
Some of Luke's newer Ohio license plates date back to 1918 and 1931. He's got at least one plate from nine of the last 10 decades.
One of the more interesting Ohio plates that came in — "58-RR" (1950) — is from the property of former U.S. Congressman Ralph Regula, who resided in Bethlehem Township. The congressman's son, David, brought a few to Luke last week, Brittany said.
The Navarre Police Department also has assisted Luke in his effort to collect more license plates.

"The police in Navarre and Brewster have helped us a ton," Brittany said. "Everyone has really been amazing."
