New Kings merch store opening by Golden 1 Center for NBA playoffs. Here’s what it sells

Lids Sports Group, the largest licensed sports retailer in North America, is opening a Lids + Kings Locker Room storefront directly across from the grand entrance to Golden 1 Center.

Workers have been busy behind a plywood façade in recent weeks, stocking the store for Friday’s opening. The Sacramento Bee on Thursday was given an inside look at the store, which is described as a “dual retail concept” featuring Sacramento Kings and River Cats apparel along with merchandise from thousands of popular college and pro teams.

The timing is fortuitous with the Kings Playoff Playground set to begin Friday as the team prepares to play Game 1 of its first-round series against the Golden State Warriors on Saturday at Golden 1 Center. Tens of thousands of people are expected to pack DoCo as the Kings make their first playoff appearance since 2006.

The Lids + Kings Locker Room storefront at Downtown Commons opens Friday, April 14, 2023, and is located directly across from the grand entrance to Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California.

“We’re excited to team up with DOCO and the Sacramento Kings to unveil this state-of-the art Lids storefront location,” Lids president Britten Maughan said in a news release. “The Kings and DOCO have been the ideal partners throughout the process. We look forward to providing consumers with all the headwear and apparel they need to represent their favorite teams and a Lids location they can be proud of.”

The Lids store will offer branded jerseys, snapback, adjustable and fitted hats, beanies, T-shirts, sweatshirts and more. The store is stocked with over a dozen different Kings jerseys, including current players and throwbacks such as Reggie Theus, Mitch Richmond, Mike Bibby, Chris Webber, Vlade Divac and DeMarcus Cousins.

The store will also feature a “Custom Zone,” where shoppers can custom-embroider a product of their choice.
